The LA Lakers President of Basketball Operations, Magic Johnson, said head coach Luke Walton will remain with the team.

Following rumours that the place of Luke Walton in the team’s bench may be in jeopardy, Johnson spoke with the media and addressed the situation.

“Yeah, we’re not going to fire him,” he told ESPN, after the Lakers heavy defeat to the Toronto Raptors at home (107-121).

Johnson had met with the young coach earlier this week, with the squad coming off back-to-back losses on the road, and it had been reported that Walton’s place wasn’t safe.

“[The meeting last week with Walton] wasn’t even a meeting about that. We just have to be better, and that was it. He’s our coach, we supporting him, and that’s it,” Johnson mentioned.

The Lakers have made a rough start to the season and have won only four times in the first 10 games in the NBA (4-6). They are currently 12th in the Western Conference.
