Real Madrid defeated Baskonia (80-73) and won the Spanish SuperCup for the fifth time in the club’s history.

Sergio Llull led the way for the “Whites”, with 15 points and three assists. Facundo Campazzo and Klemen Prepelic added 13 points apiece and Gustavo Ayon contributed 12 points and five rebounds.

On the other hand, Shavon Shields scored 14 points for the Basques, while Tornike Shengelia had 12 and Ilimane Diop 11. Vincent Poirier added 11 points and seven boards.

It was a close game between the two teams from the opening tip. Baskonia were in front by six in the third quarter (50-56), but Prepelic and Gabriel Deck helped Real Madrid go on a 21-8 run and take control of the game (71-64).

The Basques tried to turn things around, but the 2018 EuroLeague and ACB champions stood tall and sealed the victory.
