As Barcelona announced, center Ante Tomic will be the team’s captain in the upcoming season.

The 31-year-old player, who has made the most appearances for a foreign player in the club’s history (455), will succeed Juan Carlos Navarro, as the latter retired during the summer.

“It’s an honor, I’m very proud. It’s a great responsibility, especially after Navarro’s farewell. Being a Barcelona captain is incredible and I’m very happy,” said Tomic, who has spent the last six seasons with the Catalans and has won the ACB title twice (2013, 2014).

Spanish power forward, Pierre Oriola will be the squad’s second captain.
