Real Madrid superstar Luka Doncic broke down in tears as he played what many are expecting to be his final game in Europe following his side’s Liga Endesa finals win over Baskonia.

Doncic hit a clutch three, which was helped by a 27-point showing from Rudy Fernandez, who won Finals MVP honours as Real completed a magical season with a 3-1 series win.

During the medal ceremony, Doncic had a moment on the podium alone for a moment and broke into tears. He won his second Liga Endesa title in perhaps his finest campaign with Madrid and now it looks like this will be his last before the 19-year-old Slovenian heads to the NBA.

“It was the best season of my career,” Doncic admitted.

“I want to thank everyone in Real Madrid for helping me. My coaches, my teammates, the medical staff, everyone.”

With the NBA Draft on Thursday, Doncic admittedly faces a race against time to make it to Brooklyn, New York. But insists that he will try. Even though in a flash interview following Real Madrid’s triumph, the EuroLeague MVP said that he was going to speak to his agents, it was then revealed that Doncic would be on the first flight that he could find to New York.

The team is expected to arrive back in Madrid at early Wednesday morning, around 4:30 – 5:00 CET with Doncic possibly staying at the airport to board the first plane to the States, as first reported by ESPN.
