FC Barcelona Lassa has parted ways with head coach Sito Alonso, the club announced Monday.

It has also named Alfred Julbe, who had been coaching the Barcelona B team, as its new boss on an interim basis. Alonso, 42, joined Barcelona last summer on a multi-year deal.

Under his guidance, the team has a 7-14 record in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, as well as a 14-7 record in the Spanish League. Last week, Barcelona lost at home 81-83 against AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan in the EuroLeague and went on to lose 96-72 against Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz in Spanish League action.

It was Alonso’s third season in the EuroLeague. He had previously coached DKV Joventut Badalona in the 2008-09 season and Baskonia last season, leading it to the playoffs. Julbe, age 57, was coaching Barcelona’s second team.

He led Barcelona’s U18 team to victory in the 2015-16 Euroleague Basketball ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT. Julbe started his career with Joventut Badalona and also coached Cibona, Zaragoza, Caceres and Andorra in Spain, as well as Titanicos de Leon in Mexico. He helped Joventut win the Spanish Copa del Rey title in 1997, as well as leading it to the Saporta Cup final in 1988, losing against Limoges CSP.
