Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos took to Instagram to protest against two calls that he felt went against his side following their 67-62 loss to Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
The outcome left both teams with 12-6 records, tied for third-place in the standings but crucially the EuroLeague holders gained the head-to-head tiebreaker over Panathinaikos, which won their first meeting by two points.
Fenerbahce’s victory though was marred by two incidents. According to Giannakopoulos, James Gist didn’t step on the line – which happened when the hosts were 61-60 ahead – and also a foul should have been called to Nikos Pappas when Fenerbahce’s Jan Vesely blocked him.
