There is no doubt that the LaVar Ball is hyped up his son Lonzo in the off-season making him one of the most anticipated NBA rookies in recent memory.

Lonzo, who averaged 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6.0 rebounds last season with UCLA was a major standout en route to the NBA, where he is trying to adapt to his new role with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The second pick of this year’s NBA Draft is averaging 10.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.4 assists a game, all solid numbers for a rookie but in recent games, he has been turning the ball over more than usual as he tries to become an early leader for the struggling Lakers.

However, it seems that Lonzo Ball’s performances have been overshadowed by LaVar’s actions and comments with American beat reporters seemingly put the spotlight on him.

Utah Jazz big man and France international Rudy Gobert, whose side defeated the Lakers on Saturday night is not surprised.

“He got the world’s attention,” Gobert said. “I think that’s what he wanted. Everyone fell into his trap. We don’t know how he is with his kid. We just know how he is with the media. He seems like a pretty good dad to me. I think his kids are all pretty good.”
