The round of 16 concludes today as the quarter-final picture will be finalised.

LATVIA OVERPOWER MONTENEGRO

Latvia dominated Montenegro 100-68 to advance to the quarter-finals where they will meet Slovenia.

Janis Timma led Latvia with 21 points and Kristaps Porzingis added with 19 as they held the Montenegrins to just 38 percent from the field.

Latvia’s overall dominance came in the first quarter as they raced to a 27-15 lead and their advantage ballooned to 35 points as the game wore on.

SERBIA ADVANCE AGAINST HUNGARY

Ognjen Kuzmic and Bogdan Bogdanovic started for Serbia as they defeated a plucky Hungary side 86-78.

Kuzmic posted an impressive double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds with Bogdanovic also compiling 17 points for the Serbs who had raced to an early 16-3 lead but sloppy defence let Hungary narrow the gap to just seven at the half.

Serbia however, showed their resilience and had enough firepower down the stretch to end Hungary’s campaign.

SPAIN ELIMINATE HOSTS

Reigning champions and favourites Spain have knocked out hosts Turkey 73-56 to advance to the quarter-finals where they will meet Germany.

Despite glimpses of promise from Turkey, Spain were firmly in control as Ricky Rubio poured in 15 points to lead the winners.

Pau Gasol and Sergio Rodriguez each scored 11 with the latter dishing out nine assists.

RUSSIA CRUISE TO LAST EIGHT

Russia overpowered Croatia in the second half to record a 101-78 win in the final second round match.

Alexey Shved led the Russians with 27 points as they pulled clear in the third quarter.
