Last season’s EuroLeague MVP Sergio Llull has undergone successful knee surgery in Madrid after injuring his ACL while on international duty.

The recovery process begins tomorrow, but Llull is expected to be shelved for a minimum of six months. Even then, his return to the court might be an extra four to six months. He is expected to miss the entire EuroLeague regular season.

Sergio Llull was injured while on international duty with Spain.

Llull’s surgery was carried out at Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital with Javier Sanz and Carlos Martin heading the operation. The Real Madrid medical team were also present.

The Spaniard injured his Anterior cruciate ligament during the first quarter of Spain’s pre-Eurobasket warm-up against Belgium.

Real Madrid are currently searching for season-long replacements for Llull with Jayson Granger being the number one target. Many are also reporting that the team are also thinking about giving Slovenian international and potential 2018 NBA Draft pick Luka Doncic a starting role and more minutes.
