Spanish powerhouses after Asik?

While Omer Asik is the US sizing up his chances to get a contract and play in the NBA, two other teams have entered the competition in acquiring his signature, namely Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid according to Turkish website basketbolhaber.com.

Asik has drawn quite some interest by Spanish clubs from the moment he faced Pau Gasol in last year’s Eurobasket in Poland as he scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 18 minutes in the Turkey vs Spain game. Asik averaged 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in that tournament including some dominant performances.

The 24-year old Turkeish international averaged 8.9 points and 6 rebounds last season with Fenerbahce.
