David Blatt was mentioned as a potential new head coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv for several years. Eventually this move became true. 51-year-old American-Israeli coach has previously worked at Maccabi through 2000-2004 as an assistant coach of Pini Gershon.
The highlight of Blatt’s career was winning Eurobasket 2007 gold with Russian national team. At club level David Blatt has coached Dynamo Moscow, Benetton Treviso and recently Aris Thessaloniki.
After the official appointment the new head coach of The Yellows admitted that it was an honour to take this position. He also expressed desire to bring Maccabi back to the elite in Europe.
