Worcester Wolves remain the hottest team in the BBL right now as they added two more top-four scalps to their current win streak.

Paul James’ side were without key star Maurice Walker for their weekend double-header, but put his absence aside with a crushing 126-97 victory over Newcastle Eagles.

Trey Zeigler netted 37 points in the win, while Marek Klassen dished out 16 assists to go with a 25-point haul before the Wolves followed up with a 72-88 success away at Glasgow Rocks.

The Rocks had returned to winning ways on Friday as they eased past Sheffield Sharks 55-84 on the road with Kieron Achara finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

“That was definitely one of our better defensive performances of the season,” declared Sterling Davis.

“All credit to the guys with the way they came out and played together.

“We wanted to get off a good start and maintain that which we did.”

Leicester Riders closed in on retaining their BBL Championship title with two more wins on the weekend to improve to a 24-3 record.

They started with an 88-71 victory against Plymouth Raiders in a repeat of the BBL Trophy Final before beating Surrey Scorchers 71-85 on the road after a strong start.

Meanwhile, Plymouth had beaten Cheshire Phoenix 95-81 on Friday night with Anton Grady netting 26 points with the visitors then bouncing back with a 111-94 triumph over London Lions behind a 40-point outing from Mike DiNunno.

Leeds Force had a combined 55 points from Jack Isenbarger and Jermaine Sanders in an 88-80 win against Manchester Giants, but they then suffered an 85-77 loss at Bristol Flyers the next day with Hameed Ali contributing 23 points and 10 assists.
