Aleksandar CapinAleksandar Capin has arrived to Lithuania a couple of hours ago in order to finalise his contract with Zalgiris, KaunoDiena.lt reports. Slovenian point guard left Lokomotiv Krasnodar recently where he averaged 20.5 points and 4.4 assists per game in Russian league.  Once he passes medical, Capin should sign two-and-a-half year contract with Zalgiris.

27-year-old point guard will share time on the court with the current starter Mantas Kalnietis. The future of the other two point guards, Sarunas Vasiliauskas and Zygimantas Janavicius is still not certain as at least one of them could be loaned to another team.

This signing comes as a response to Fenerbahce Ulker after the Turkish side brought Roko-Leni Ukic from NBA. Zalgiris will face Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul on Thursday with only one aim – to win the game. Lithuanian club needs to win by at least 6 points in order to qualify to Top 16 but if Cibona beats Asvel then a win by 3 points would be good enough.

Despite the acquisition of Aleksandar Capin the main problem of Zalgiris remains not solved. The club is left with just two players at the front line that have serious Euroleague experience. 19-year-old Croatian talent Mario Delas, who has no top level competition experience, is strongly linked with Zalgiris and remains the favourite to join Zalgiris. The other candidate who is widely mentioned, Jeremiah Massey, is reportedly choosing between Murcia and Zalgiris.
