Group A

Slovenia’s successful Eurobasket Women campaign ended with a loss as they fell to Latvia 77-66 in Riga.

Gunta Basko-Melnba led Latvia with 13 points as they turned around a narrow 21-19 margin after the first period and  held the already qualified Slovenians to just nine points in the next quarter and from there, Latvia never looked away.

Group B

Qualified France ended Croatia’s hopes of Eurobasket Women qualification with a resounding 84-65 win.

Endene Miyem led the French with 17 points.

And despite ending their qualification campaign on a high, the Netherlands fell short of a place at next year’s championships with a 70-46 home win over Estonia.

Group C

Montenegro have qualified as one of the best second placed teams as they ousted group winners Italy 66-57.

In the group’s dead rubber, Great Britain ended on a positive note by beating Albania 97-55.

Group D

Ukraine finished their qualifying campaign unbeaten as they defeated reigning champions Serbia 88-82.

The Ukrainians had already sealed their qualification on Saturday but signed off in style as Alina Iagopova paced the winners with 24 points in the win.

Despite the loss, Serbia qualified as one of the six best runners up.

The other game in Group D saw Germany comfortably overcome Luxembourg 94-54.

Group E

Like the men’s team earlier in the year, Hungary’s women booked their spot at next year’s Eurobasket Women with a 69-48 win over Slovak Republic.

Tijana Krivacevic led the way for the Hungarians with 19 points as they head to the finals for the second straight time.

And in a dead rubber game, Iceland came from an early first quarter deficit to overcome Portugal 65-54 in Reykjavik.

Group F

Already qualified Russia ended their campaign on an unbeaten note as they comfortably saw-off Greece 67-53 in Kursk.

Led by Maria Vadeeva’s 20 points and five rebounds, Russia pulled away from the Greeks in the second period, turning a narrow 13-8 lead after the first into a 42-17 advantage and they never looked back, finishing the group with a perfect 6-0 mark. Greece qualified in second place.

Bulgaria defeated Switzerland 72-48 in Fribourg in the other Group F encounter.

Group G

Belgium ended a near decade of hurt as they advanced to Eurobasket Women by scoring a huge 77-61 road win over Poland.

Ann Wauters put in a sublime, all-round display of 16 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals to lead the Lionesses to victory.

Group H

Turkey sealed their qualification to Eurobasket Women with a 64-54 win over Romania in Ankara.

A closely-fought contest was ultimately settled in the fourth quarter when Turkey held the plucky Romanians to just nine points, while scoring 20 points themselves.

Israel finished their campaign on a high with an 82-60 win on the road against Bosnia & Herzegovina. Both teams however, missed out.

Group I

In a game purely built on pride, Sweden thrashed neighbours Finland 94-45. However, the other team in the group, Spain had sealed their qualification and both sides missed out on a trip to the Czech Republic, as a result.
