Baskonia have signed Nigerian guard Josh Akognon on a one-month contract with the option of extending it for the season, the club have announced.
The signing comes after Baskonia learned of a hamstring injury to French combo guard Rodrigue Beaubois during the team’s pre-season.
The 30-year-old Akognon spent most of the previous season playing for Dinamo Sassari in Italy, averaging 14.9 points, 1.7 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game. The Nigerian also had a spell in the NBA, with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2012-13 season.
