Panathinaikos great Dimitris Diamantidis’ number 13 jersey has officially been retired during a pre-season friendly against CSKA Moscow.
Diamantidis, who announced his retirement at the end of last season, did get court time during the Diamonds Are Forever tournament, honouring the great man himself but his playing time was stopped with 13 seconds left of the first half.
In a spectacular display, the jersey of a EuroLeague legend and perhaps one of Greece’s finest basketball stars was hung at the OAKA in Athens for good.
Panathinaikos went on to win the game 80-73.
