ImageIn an open letter of complaint published on their official website Maroussi BC openly turned against the CEO of Euroleague, Jordi Bertomeu, regarding his statements about the low attendance in Maorussi-CSKA, in an interview to a Greek sports newspaper.

The full letter which is titled "That was an unsportsmanlike foul Mr. Bertomeu"

We were surprised and shocked to read your interview to a Greek sports newspaper which was published on Friday, October 23rd. For a strange and unexplained reason, you were disappointed and commented only  the low attendance in Maroussi-CSKA game, amongst all the opening day games in which you twisted reality. You mentioned 200 fans whereas it is proved that 1650 fans attended the game when at the same time two other clubs, which you have rewarded with guaranteed contracts, sold less tickets.

In Fenerbahce Ulker-Barcelona game there were just 1000 tickets sold and in the game which yourself attended Armani Jeans Milano-Panathinaikos  just 1500 tickets were sold.

Having this in mind, on can assume that your statements are not only incorrect but show antipathy towards our club and the Greek basketball in general. You know perfectly well that we tried really hard to make it to the Euroleague groups knocking out difficult opponents. Unless Euroleague does not care about the sporting standards of the competing teams but just their financial situation. With this criteria even music bands could compete in Euroleague if they were to sell out arenas.

We expect an apology  from you and a statement which will reinstall the truth, because this is an ethical issue to us. The only excuse for us would be that you were misquoted by the newspaper since at the same time Euroleague congratulated the club for the excellent organisation of the game. We want you to know that we do not stop trying to improve in all levels, mainly because some find our presence annoying, both in Greece and Euroleague.
