Israel has expressed heavy interest in hosting the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the Federation confirmed today.

The news comes on the same day that the “#EuroBasket2017” statue was unveiled in the four host cities of Istanbul, Cluj-Napoca, Helsinki and of course, Tel Aviv (seen in headline picture).

The Israeli Basketball Federation (IBBA) announced that they have already sent the initial paperwork to FIBA in order to be candidates for the tournament of 2023.

The 2019 World Cup will be held in China and FIBA after a meeting which will be held on the 1st 2nd of November will announce which will be the candidates for hosting the 2023 event.

The Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv will host one of the group phases next year at Eurobasket.
