With general manager Bobby Webster now signed to a new long-term contract, the Toronto Raptors are also expected to secure the future of head coach Darko Rajakovic.
According to multiple sources cited by Sportsnet’s Michael Grange, discussions on a contract extension for Rajakovic are ongoing, although no timeline has been set for when a deal might be finalized.
The coach is currently entering the final year of his existing contract.
The expected extension comes after a successful season in which Toronto returned to the playoffs for the first time in four years.
Grange previously reported that both Webster and Rajakovic were likely to receive new contracts following the team’s progress.
Speaking after his own extension was announced, Webster emphasized the importance of continuity within the organization and credited the relationships built throughout the franchise.
“We don’t make it through the past few years if there’s not a ton of stability, and I think the best part, and everyone can appreciate this, is if you like the people you work with from a professional standpoint, great,” Webster said.
“But if you also like them from a personal standpoint, and you want to come in every day, and travel around the world, and take red eye (flights), and be up late, and get up early in the morning, it matters who you work with on a professional level, but on a personal level it’s just great to have to same crew here.”
According to Grange, Webster’s new contract runs for five seasons beginning in 2026/27, while Rajakovic appears likely to remain a key part of the Raptors’ long-term plans as well.
