Following a string of limited roles this summer with the Spanish national team, it was inevitable that Jose Calderon’s time in an international jersey was coming to an end.

And today, the soon-to-be 35-year-old Calderon officially announced his retirement after claiming the bronze medal at Rio 2016 having played a total of just 25 minutes in Brazil.

Since his international career started back in 1998, Calderon has gone on to claim such honours as three Olympic medals (two silver ones and a bronze), a world championship crown, plus a hefty collection of Eurobasket medals including gold, two silvers and a bronze.

Calderon will still remain active as he will suit up for the Los Angeles Lakers this season.
