ImagePanathinaikos is the winner of the 2009 Gomelsky Cup as they beat CSKA in Moscow with 78-72, in the final game of the tournament.

Panathinaikos played without Mike Batiste, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Giorgi Shermadini, but saw great performances by Nikola Pekovic, Vassilis Spanoulis and Kostas Tsartsaris.

Pekovic was unstoppable as he scored 22 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, while he also had 2 assists and 2 blocks. Spanoulis added 17 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, and Tsartsaris had 16 points.

CSKA was led by American duo, JR Holden and Trajan Langdon who had 14 and 17 points respectively, while they also grabbed 3 rebounds apiece.

The two teams will face each other again on the 11th of October, this time in Athens, for a game held to honour Panathinaikos' incon, Fragiskos Alvertis' retirement.
