Fenerbahce has continued reshaping its roster for the 2026-27 season, announcing the signing of American guard Trent Forrest to a 2+1-year contract after two productive campaigns with Baskonia.
The move adds an experienced playmaker to a Fenerbahce team that is replacing several key contributors from last season’s EuroLeague Final Four squad. Forrest arrives after establishing himself as one of Baskonia’s primary ball handlers following a four-year NBA career with the Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks.
The 28-year-old averaged 10.9 points, 4.4 assists, 2.8 rebounds and a 14.5 performance index rating in 27 EuroLeague games during the 2025-26 season. He also shot 86.1% from the free-throw line while limiting his turnovers to 1.4 per game, continuing the steady progression he showed after arriving in Europe.
Across two EuroLeague seasons with Baskonia, Forrest averaged 11.6 points, 4.5 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 61 appearances. His first campaign in the competition saw him post 9.7 points and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 47.9% from the field, demonstrating his ability to create offense both as a scorer and facilitator.
Forrest’s impact extended beyond the EuroLeague. In Liga Endesa last season, he averaged 14.1 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 23 games while converting 48.7% of his field-goal attempts and an outstanding 92.4% from the free-throw line. During the 2024-25 campaign, he was also named MVP of the Spanish King’s Cup after helping Baskonia lift the trophy.
Before moving overseas, Forrest spent four seasons in the NBA. The Florida State product appeared in 151 regular-season games with Utah and Atlanta between 2020 and 2024, averaging 2.8 points and 1.9 assists.
The signing comes during a period of significant roster turnover for Fenerbahce. The club has already seen veteran guard Nando De Colo retire, while Devon Hall, Bonzie Colson, Khem Birch, Brandon Boston Jr., Arturs Zagars, Armando Bacot, Jilson Bango and Metecan Birsen have all departed. Tarik Biberovic is also reportedly set to leave for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.
Last season, Fenerbahce finished fourth in the EuroLeague regular season with a 24-14 record before defeating Zalgiris 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Their campaign ended in the Final Four with a 79-61 semifinal loss to eventual champion Olympiacos.
