Former NBA guard Garrison Mathews is close to signing with Olimpia Milan, according to Eurohoops sources, as the Italian club looks to strengthen its roster ahead of the new season.
The 29-year-old sharpshooter appears set to continue his career in Europe after spending seven seasons in the NBA with the Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, and Indiana Pacers.
Despite going undrafted, Mathews played in 329 NBA games, including 65 starts, while shooting 38 percent from three-point range. He has been a free agent since being waived by the Hawks last December.
Olimpia Milan also announced a multi-year contract extension for center Ousmane Diop.
“Staying at Olimpia was what I wanted and have always desired. I’m extremely happy and ready to give everything I have to continue making the great history of this club,” said Diop.
Diop joined Olimpia from Dinamo Sassari in 2024 and helped the club win two Italian Super Cups, the 2026 Italian Cup, and the 2026 Italian League championship.
He averaged 7.5 points in the playoffs and 9.5 points in the finals during the title-winning campaign.
