Real Madrid and Alex Len have agreed to end their partnership, the club announced Tuesday, July 7. The veteran center leaves after one season with the Spanish powerhouse, which reached the 2026 EuroLeague Final before falling to Olympiacos.

Len joined Real Madrid in 2025 after a decade-plus NBA career that included stops with the Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers. The 7-foot-1 center began his professional career with Dnipro before becoming the No. 5 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

During the 2025-26 EuroLeague season, Len played a limited role behind established center Edy Tavares. He appeared in 23 games, averaging 9.2 minutes per contest while posting 3.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game. He shot 51.1% from the field and 76.7% from the free-throw line.

Real Madrid relied heavily on Tavares during its EuroLeague campaign, with the veteran center averaging 9.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 39 games. Len provided additional size and interior defense but saw fewer minutes as the season progressed.

Despite Len’s reduced role, Real Madrid enjoyed a strong 2025-26 EuroLeague run. The club finished third in the regular season standings with a 24-14 record. Real Madrid defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 3-1 in the playoffs before advancing to the Final Four.

In Athens, Real Madrid defeated Valencia 105-90 in the semifinals but lost 92-85 to Olympiacos in the championship game. Len did not play a major role during the Final Four stretch.

Len’s departure continues an offseason transition for Real Madrid. The club has already moved on from forward Trey Lyles, who signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and head coach Sergio Scariolo. Real Madrid has added head coach Pedro Martinez and forward Jaime Pradilla as part of its next roster phase.
