The Sacramento Kings are waiving veteran guard DeMar DeRozan, making the six-time All-Star one of the top remaining free agents on the market, according to ESPN.

Sacramento and DeRozan reportedly worked together to reach the decision after exploring potential trade options but failing to find a suitable deal.

The move now allows the veteran to choose his next destination in free agency.

DeRozan’s contract for next season carried a salary of $25.7 million, although only $10 million was guaranteed.

Several contending teams are expected to show interest in signing the experienced scorer.

The Kings have until the end of August to use the waive-and-stretch provision, which would spread the guaranteed money over three seasons.

Waiving DeRozan also moves Sacramento below both NBA salary cap aprons, providing the franchise with additional financial flexibility moving forward.
