Chicago Bulls forward Matas Buzelis has confirmed that he will represent Lithuania for the first time at the senior national team level this summer.

After discussions with the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, the highly regarded youngster announced that he plans to participate in the upcoming 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

“We had a good conversation. I will play for the national team this summer. It will be a lot of fun,” Buzelis said.

The decision marks a significant step for the 21-year-old, who has yet to make his debut for Lithuania’s senior team despite being considered one of the country’s brightest basketball prospects.

Lithuania currently occupies second place in its qualifying group and will face Great Britain and Italy later this summer as it continues its push toward the 2027 World Cup.

Fellow NBA prospect Kasparas Jakucionis is also expected to be part of the squad for the upcoming games.
