Nemanja AleksandrovUnion Olimpija signed promising big man Nemanja Aleksandrov to a multi-year deal, the club announced Friday. Aleksandrov was among the top prospects in basketball a few years ago before injuries derailed his progress.

He missed all of last season due to knee surgery. Aleksandrov grew up at the storied youth program at FMP Zeleznik, where he began playing with the senior team during the 2003-04 season. He moved to Crvena Zvezda in 2006 and began to produce before injuries crept in and disrupted his career. Among his career highlights are winning the Serbian Cup and Adriatic League with FMP and leading the Serbia and Montenegro national team to the gold medal at the 2003 European Cadets Championship. He also played for Serbia at EuroBasket 2007 in Spain. The contract between Olimpija and Aleksandrov is for three years, though the club holds an option to terminate the contract after the first season.
