Today has given us a clear hint that David Blatt could have his first NBA job secured by the weekend. But we start in Turkey as Game 7 of the TBL Finals is settled in the strangest of circumstances.

FENERBAHCE WIN THE TBL CROWN

Fenerbahce have been crowned the 2014 Turkish League champions by beating Galatasaray in the decisive Game 7 of the TBL Finals.

Thanks to Galatasaray not showing up.

But this plot has more sub-stories to it.

Galatasaray forced the Game 7 at the Abdi Ikpeci Arena with an 85-77 victory in Game 6, but the controversy  started at the end of Game 2.

Fenerbahce won the game with a final shot taken by Bo McCalebb, but there was a foul on Manuchar Markoishvili that burst nerves and  Galatasaray coach Ergin Ataman stated afterwards “that the game was stolen”.

Turkish Basketball Federation decided to punish Galatasaray fans for riots with the other supporters, disqualifying Abdi Ikpeci for Game 6 and made a compromise decision only later on with the permission to open the arena for 5.000 women and children at most.

But the Turkish Basketball Federation decided not to punish Fenerbahce Ulker for the events happened in Game 5 at Ulker Arena and for this reason president for Galatasaray announced the intention not to play the game.

BLATT HEADING TO CLEVELAND?

TB will publish an article when the contract terms are accepted and a deal is confirmed but David Blatt looks set to become the head coach of Cleveland Cavaliers.

Blatt, who coached Maccabi Electra to the Euroleague title in May is in advanced talks with the Cavs and if the talks go smoothly and both parties accept the terms – then Blatt could be confirmed as head coach by Friday evening.

More will be announced on TB shortly.

PANATHINAIKOS AGREE TERMS WITH A 16-YEAR-OLD PRODIGY?

It seems as though Panathiniakos are in a rebuilding phase and are looking to invest in the future talent pool as they look to sign 16-year-old Mihalis Lountzis.

The young guard has been touted as one of the best young prospects but it is rumoured that he might be used for cameo appearances in the Greek A1 League to begin with and will not be used for Euroleague games.

PIPAN STAYS IN LJUBLJANA

Coach Ales Pipan will remain with Union Olimpija Ljubljana for two more years in a 1+1 deal, which means he can opt out of his contract in the second year.

“When we agreed on contract last year, we wanted a long-term cooperation and I am satisfied that the trust is still there and we stay together also in the next seasons,” Pipan said in a statement. “Last season is in the past and it is up to us to prepare for the new one. We will need to wait a little bit with all the decisions about the roster, as we do not know yet in which competitions we will be playing in the 2014/2015 season.

“One thing is clear; we will have a young group of guys with a lot of Slovenian players. We will not exceed the budget no matter what. Our plan is to build a young team, with good chemistry among the players that will fight for every possession.”
