Mike Brown says OG Anunoby deserved First Team

OG Anunoby described his All-Defensive Second Team selection as “cool,” but members of the New York Knicks believe he deserved even greater recognition for his impact this season.

Head coach Mike Brown strongly defended Anunoby’s case, pointing to the team’s top-five defense and emphasizing the versatility he brings on that end of the floor.

Brown said Anunoby earned the honor but also suggested voters underrated his overall defensive value and should reconsider that evaluation in future seasons.

“The versatility he brings to this team – we’re a top-five defensive team. Top-five defensive team, OK?” the coach said.

“… The versatility that that guy brings to this team is off the charts, and I hope the voters get it right the next time around. I’m happy he’s Second Team. He deserves something, but it was wrong.”
