The Houston Rockets continue to believe strongly in Reed Sheppard’s long-term upside, even after an inconsistent showing in the playoffs this year, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Tim MacMahon.

Internally, the organization sees the potential for Sheppard to grow into an elite point guard, drawing comparisons to Steve Nash, which played a major role in selecting him over Stephon Castle in the 2024 draft.

However, that level of optimism isn’t shared across the league. Some evaluators are more cautious, with one scout suggesting Sheppard’s trajectory may resemble Steve Kerr more than Nash.

Sheppard has played 2 seasons for the Rockets. He has averaged 10.0 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in 134 regular-season games.
