AJ Dybantsa has officially announced his entry into the 2026 NBA Draft, moving on from BYU Cougars men’s basketball after completing his freshman year.

Dybantsa is widely viewed as a strong contender to go No. 1 overall.

Many NBA teams reportedly now place him ahead of Darryn Peterson on their draft boards, largely because scouts see him as having a more reliable baseline level of performance.

During his lone season at BYU, Dybantsa put up 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, averaging 34.8 minutes over 35 appearances.

His standout play earned him Consensus All-American First Team honors, along with being named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
