The Memphis Grizzlies visit the Utah Jazz on Friday, April 10, at the Delta Center with both teams carrying major injury issues and little margin for error in the standings. Memphis enters the night 12th in the Western Conference at 25-55, while Utah sits 15th at 21-59, and both clubs are already eliminated from playoff contention.
Memphis’ report is led by the continued absence of Ja Morant, who is out with a left elbow UCL sprain. The Grizzlies also remain without Santi Aldama, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Clarke, Cedric Coward, Zach Edey, Taylor Hendricks, GG Jackson, Ty Jerome, Scotty Pippen Jr., Cam Spencer, and Jaylen Wells.
Walter Clayton Jr. is listed as questionable with left hip soreness, while Olivier-Maxence Prosper is doubtful with right ankle soreness and Javon Small is questionable with a left thigh contusion. Jahmai Mashack is available and will wear a face mask after a nasal fracture.
The sheer volume of Memphis injuries has stripped away most of its regular rotation.
Utah’s availability list is just as deep, starting with Lauri Markkanen, who is out with a right hip impingement. The Jazz are also missing Isaiah Collier, Keyonte George, Kyle Filipowski, Jaren Jackson Jr., Walker Kessler, Jusuf Nurkic, and Brice Sensabaugh.
Elijah Harkless is questionable with a left hamstring strain, leaving Utah with additional uncertainty at the guard and wing spots. Markkanen’s absence is a major offensive blow, since he leads the team with 26.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
The matchup comes after another rough stretch for both teams. Memphis has dropped two straight, allowing 136 points at Denver and 142 at home against Cleveland, while Utah has surrendered 156 to New Orleans and 140 to Houston in its last two games.
The season series has already been decided at 2-1 in Memphis’ favor, with each team winning at home.
