Former Sacramento Kings forward Sasha Vezenkov endured a tough 2023/24 campaign, his only season in the NBA.
His agent, Nikos Lotsos, said the 6’9″ shooter’s decision to come to the league was influenced more by outside expectations than his own motivation, which impacted his performance.
Lotsos also pointed to a lack of backing from then-head coach Mike Brown.
“Everyone else wanted him except for Brown,” he said, via Stavros Barbarousis and George Adamopoulos of Eurohoops.
In his view, the absence of support from the coaching staff contributed to Vezenkov being unable to secure a consistent role in the rotation.
In 42 games, Vezenkov averaged 5.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 12.2 minutes per game.
He shot 44.0% from the field, 37.5% from three-point range, and around 80% from the free-throw line.
