As the Wizards wind down a difficult season, Washington center Anthony Davis and guard Trae Young are unlikely to return, head coach Brian Keefe said Tuesday (Twitter link via Chase Hughes of Monumental Sports Network).

With Wizards out of playoff contention, the team is prioritizing health heading into the offseason.

Davis, who has yet to make his Washington debut, has been ramping up his on-court work in recent weeks while recovering from a hand injury, but will run out of time to play before the season ends.

Meanwhile, Young (low back pain; right quad contusion) is even further behind in his recovery and also isn’t expected to suit up again this year.
