The most significant status on Minnesota’s report is Anthony Edwards, who is listed as questionable due to right knee patellofemoral pain syndrome. Edwards has been the Timberwolves’ primary offensive engine this season, averaging 29.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists across 59 games.
Jaden McDaniels is ruled out with left knee patella tendinopathy. McDaniels averages 14.8 points and provides key perimeter defense, making his absence significant against Detroit’s wing-heavy rotation.
Minnesota also lists Enrique Freeman, Zyon Pullin, and Rocco Zikarsky as out due to G League assignments on two-way contracts.
The Timberwolves are coming off a 124-94 road win over the Dallas Mavericks on March 30. Before that victory, Minnesota suffered a 109-87 home loss to Detroit on March 28 in the teams’ first meeting this season.
Detroit enters Thursday’s matchup with several notable absences, including Cade Cunningham. The Pistons’ franchise guard is out with a pneumothorax involving his left lung.
Cunningham has been Detroit’s offensive leader this season, averaging 24.5 points and 9.9 assists while starting all 61 games he has played.
Isaiah Stewart is also unavailable due to a left calf strain. Stewart averages 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds and serves as a physical frontcourt presence off the bench.
Marcus Sasser is listed as questionable with a right hip strain. Additional Pistons players on the report include Isaac Jones, Bobi Klintman, and Chaz Lanier, who are all out due to G League assignments.
Detroit recently defeated the Toronto Raptors 127-116 at home on March 31. The Pistons also pushed the Oklahoma City Thunder to overtime on March 30 before losing 114-110 on the road.
Despite Cunningham’s absence, Detroit remains the top team in the Eastern Conference and has won seven of its last ten games. Minnesota sits sixth in the Western Conference and continues to battle for playoff positioning.
