Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is targeting a return on Sunday against the Rockets, according to Sam Amick and Nick Friedell of The Athletic.
Curry has been out since January 30 with patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee.
He went through his first full practice in nearly two months on Tuesday and was scheduled for five-on-five scrimmaging afterward. If his progress continues, the plan is for him to suit up against Houston.
“He went through a full practice, but it was very light,” head coach Steve Kerr said. “We didn’t do anything live.”
A team source told Amick and Friedell that Curry handled the scrimmage well, though his status will be evaluated daily. He has played 39 games this season, averaging 27.2 points and 4.8 assists in 31.8 minutes.
Golden State currently holds the 10th spot in the Western Conference, sitting one-and-a-half games behind Portland and three games back of the Clippers.
“It’s amazing, man,” Gui Santos said. “Just to have him out there with us, it’s always great. We have a lot more confidence when we have a guy like Steph on the court. There’s no doubt about it.”
