The Detroit Pistons have been very encouraged by multiple areas of Jalen Duren’s progress this season, as Hunter Patterson of The Athletic writes.
The 22-year-old center, who is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason, delivered another standout performance on Thursday, finishing with 30 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and two blocks in 31 minutes.
His seven assists marked both a season high and matched the best total of his career.
“It’s untapped potential being able to use him as a hub, put the ball in his hands and let him make plays,” head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said.
“The growth he’s shown this year offensively has been through the charts. From reading coverages, reading rotations, being able to make the right read at full speed – he’s just having a phenomenal year and continuing to get better right in front of us.”
Duren has played 4 seasons for the Pistons. He has averaged 13.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 269 regular-season games.
