The Boston Celtics are expected to re-sign center Charles Bassey to a second 10-day contract, according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, after his initial deal expired and left the team with just 13 players.

Boston needed to add a player to meet the NBA’s 14-man roster minimum, making Bassey’s return a necessary move.

The 2021 second-round pick has played for the 76ers and Spurs, and has bounced between NBA teams and the G League this season despite a strong Summer League showing.

He previously signed short-term deals with Memphis and Philadelphia before joining Boston, where he provides depth while Nikola Vucevic recovers from a finger injury.

Bassey has seen limited NBA action this season but has been productive in the G League, averaging 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds.

His new contract runs through April 3, keeping the Celtics just under the luxury tax line.
