The Washington Wizards will enter Madison Square Garden on Sunday, March 22, without several key players, including Trae Young, Leaky Black, and Anthony Davis. Young is sidelined with lower back pain and a right quad contusion, while Black is out with a left ankle sprain and Davis remains out due to a left finger sprain.

Additional Wizards absences include Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Alex Sarr, and Cam Whitmore, leaving head coach to adjust rotations significantly. D’Angel Russell is listed as not wit the team.

Sarr’s absence, who averages 16.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, removes a key inside presence.

The New York Knicks are relatively healthier but still face uncertainties. Josh Hart is listed as questionable with right knee patella femoral syndrome, while Landry Shamet is out with right knee soreness.

G League assignments and two-way players, including Ariel Hukporti, Trey Jemison III, Dillon Jones, Tyler Kolek, and Kevin McCullar Jr., create further depth questions.

The Wizards are currently 16-54 and have lost 15 straight games, ranking last in the Eastern Conference. Their recent form includes back-to-back losses to the Oklahoma City Thunder (111-132) and Detroit Pistons (117-130).

In contrast, the Knicks (46-25) have secured a postseason berth and are riding a five-game winning streak after a narrow 93-92 win over the Brooklyn Nets on March 20, 2026.

Sunday’s game marks the third meeting of the season between the two teams, with New York winning both previous encounters (Nov. 3, 2025: 119-102; Feb. 3, 2026: 132-101).

The game is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET at Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks’ home-court advantage could be magnified by the Wizards’ depleted roster.
