Atlanta Hawks head coach Quin Snyder highlighted Dyson Daniels’ defensive focus in the third quarter Saturday night. “I thought our guys were more focused… Dyson, Nickeil, all those guys… just took their level up defensively and got some stops,” he said.
Snyder praised CJ McCollum’s scoring during the stretch, noting his impact on both ends. “CJ shot making during that stretch was really, really big… you want him to shoot with confidence and also defensively as well,” he said.
The coach reflected on Mouhamed Gueye’s role, saying, “Mo is so impactful for us on the defensive end… we have confidence in him shooting that ball.” He also acknowledged Buddy Hield’s leadership. “He has a way of impacting his teammates, whether he’s on the floor or off,” Snyder said.
Snyder addressed the absence of Jalen Johnson, who was a late scratch. “I won’t get into the details… hopefully he’ll be back next game. Our medical group will tell me,” he stated.
Effort and hustle were major points of emphasis. “Whatever level you’re playing on, if you want to win, you’re willing to do the things it takes… those loose balls are big plays,” Snyder said.
He also highlighted Daniels’ shooting improvement. “From three, I told him… right, space and read, and if you’ve got that shot, take it… good to see him knock one down tonight,” Snyder said.
The Hawks dominated the second half en route to a 126-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Daniels scored a season-high 28 points with seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals, while McCollum added 23 points and five assists.
Atlanta shot 54% overall and forced 21 turnovers while distributing 28 assists on 48 made baskets. Gueye contributed a perfect 6-of-6 shooting night en route to a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.
The Hawks extended their home winning streak to 10 games and completed a season sweep of Golden State.
