Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell was ruled out for Thursday’s game in Chicago after initially being listed as questionable, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com (Twitter link).
The 6’2″ guard is dealing with a left eye contusion, and he revealed that his vision was significantly affected following Tuesday’s win over Milwaukee.
“Can’t really see out of my left eye,” Mitchell said. “It was tough – tonight. It is what it is. I was still able to get to the free throw line.
“Was still able to make plays. My biggest thing was like, I may not have it scoring wise, but what else am I doing to help?”
With Mitchell unavailable, second-year wing Jaylon Tyson stepped into the starting lineup for Cleveland.
Mitchell has played 9 seasons for the Jazz and Cavaliers. He has averaged 25.1 points, 4.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 600 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 6 All-Star games.
