Olympiacos Piraeus delivered one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, defeating Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul 104-87 on Tuesday at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
The result came against the EuroLeague’s top-ranked defense, which entered the game allowing fewer than 80 points per contest. Olympiacos surpassed that mark with eight minutes still remaining and finished with a season-defining output.
Evan Fournier led the charge with a career-high 36 points in under 24 minutes, shooting 9-of-11 on two-pointers and 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. His scoring efficiency broke the defensive structure of the visitors and shifted the game decisively in the fourth quarter.
Fenerbahce opened strong, building a 29-23 lead after the first quarter behind accurate perimeter shooting. The visitors continued to execute early, forcing Olympiacos to rely on second-unit production.
Fournier responded immediately in the second quarter, scoring five straight points to ignite a 7-0 run that put the hosts back in front. He finished the half with 17 points, helping Olympiacos take a narrow 48-46 deficit into the break after a late 0-7 run by the Turkish side.
The turning point came in the third quarter when Olympiacos opened with a 12-0 run to establish control. Ball movement and interior efficiency created high-percentage looks, reflected in the team’s 30-of-37 shooting inside the arc.
Fenerbahce briefly threatened behind Talen Horton-Tucker, who scored 30 points and cut the deficit to 78-75 early in the fourth quarter. The guard attacked mismatches and converted efficiently, but the comeback stalled under sustained pressure.
Fournier then closed the game with a personal 10-point burst, including a three-pointer and multiple drives that extended the lead to double digits. His fourth triple made it 93-81, effectively ending the contest.
Sasha Vezenkov added 24 points on 10-of-11 two-point shooting, providing consistent scoring in the paint and mid-range. Thomas Walkup controlled tempo with 11 assists, ensuring spacing and ball movement against defensive rotations.
Olympiacos finished with 25 assists and just seven turnovers, maintaining offensive balance against an aggressive defense. The home side also shot 81.1 percent on two-point attempts, a key indicator of shot quality and execution.
Sitting second in the standings, Olympiacos strengthened its position in the race for home-court advantage in the playoffs. Fenerbahce, despite the loss, remains first but conceded over 100 points for the first time this season.
Olympiacos will host Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz next as it looks to extend its home winning streak, while Fenerbahce returns to Istanbul to face EA7 Emporio Armani Milan.
