Steve Kerr reflected on his 600th career victory with the Golden State Warriors, saying, “Just the result. Not a great basketball game, but we needed the win… proud of the guys, coming off the tough loss last night and travel and fatigue.”

Kerr described the achievement as “surreal,” adding, “I can tell you that there’s one thing that bonds us all together… talent. I owe the honor to incredible talent and a great organization.” He credited players like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, Andrew Bogut, Harrison Barnes, David West, Kevin Durant, and Zaza Pachulia for their roles over the years.

Reflecting on his coaching staff, Kerr said, “I want to thank all my coaches… Ron Adams, Alvin Gentry, Luke Walton… up until today with Terry Stotts, Stack, Q, Chris Williams. It’s really special what we get to do every day.”

Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 30 points and 13 free throws, and Kerr noted, “He’s just gotten his legs underneath him… he just scores so easily and really closed the game tonight with his free throws.” Kerr also highlighted the motivation factor, calling it the “Kristaps Porzingis reunion tour,” facing all five of his former teams.

On Gary Payton II, Kerr praised his versatility: “He’s one of our best screen and rollers… usually guarded by a big guy, he creates separation with speed, screens underneath, has great hands and finishing ability. He’s been a wonderful player for us over the years.”

Kerr also emphasized the value of veteran leadership in the locker room, even when key players are unavailable. “Steph provides leadership… Draymond has been the heartbeat of this whole thing… crucial for us. Having them on the trip gives us a level of comfort,” he said.

Looking back on the milestone, Kerr admitted, “I literally haven’t thought about it until now… Draymond told me a few days ago, the next one is 600… it’s a time to reflect and be thankful for everything I’ve been given.”

The Warriors overcame absences from Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Seth Curry, and Al Horford to defeat the Washington Wizards 125-117 on Monday night at Capital One Arena. De’Anthony Melton added 27 points, and Golden State led by 17 in the second quarter before Washington narrowed the margin.

With the win, Golden State snapped a five-game losing streak, improving to 33-35 and maintaining hope for a favorable play-in position in the Western Conference. Washington fell to 16-51, remaining at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
