Appearing on the Cousins podcast alongside Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady, Jaylen Brown revealed that he once considered requesting a trade from the Celtics after the team was eliminated in the second round of the 2019 playoffs.

However, the Boston wing said a conversation with McGrady ultimately changed his perspective.

Brown explained that he spent a few days working out and talking with McGrady, and those discussions helped reshape how he viewed his situation in Boston.

“Coming and sitting down with Mac, we spent a couple days just working out and talking, having some food, and he’s telling me like, I’m thinking like one thing and he’s thinking like, ‘nah, you need to stay, it’s going to be you.’ He’s telling me all the stuff that all just manifested itself. So, I can’t even like, it’s crazy looking back on it now,” Brown said.

Brown has played 10 seasons for the Celtics. He has averaged 19.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 662 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 4 All-Star games. He has won 1 Finals MVP award and 1 NBA championship.
