Lakers head coach JJ Redick highlighted the team’s offensive flow after Luka Doncic scored 51 points in Los Angeles’ 142-130 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Redick emphasized Doncic’s consistency: “I think he’s been high volume, high efficiency for about two and a half months now. It’s so important. It just sets up the rest of his game when he’s making threes. And it obviously gives us life.”

Discussing the key moments, Redick said, “That stretch there in the first half where he scored three or four possessions in a row, came down in isolation, hits the three from the right wing. That got us going a little bit when we had basically stopped playing defense for nine possessions.”

Redick praised Doncic’s playmaking: “He made great reads out of pick rolls, got Deandre [Ayton] going, had some great spray out paint touch looks for us. First play of the game, ball ends up back in his hands, he finds LeBron in the corner. LeBron makes the extra pass to AR [Austin Reaves]. DA does a great job rolling. Takes out two guys. They all end up on the floor. AR gets wider for three.”

LeBron James’ role after returning from injury also earned attention: “LeBron and I talked over the last couple days. He wants to do everything possible to help his team win. He understands the importance of making sure Luka and AR can be at their best, and that’s incredible of him.”

Redick reflected on the historic scoring: “137 points was the most scored by a starting group in 20 years. I like the way we played tonight.” He added, “The biggest thing for not just those three guys but our team is just play the basketball game in front of us. I promise you like you’re going to be around your average in shot attempts.”

Highlighting Doncic’s mental makeup, Redick noted, “It’s a unique trait. He can channel it and he can channel it while still doing all the other things that need to be done. That’s obviously reflective of his defensive rebounding, assists, steals. He’s playing as well as anybody in the NBA right now.”

Ayton’s impact also received praise: “We know what DA is capable of. He is an X factor for us, if not the X factor, because him playing at a high level raises our ceiling. It changes the makeup of our team if we have him playing this way.”
