The Utah Jazz secured a 119-116 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday night at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, using a late three-pointer from two-way forward Blake Hinson to close a tightly contested game.
Hinson drilled a shot from the right wing with 29.9 seconds remaining, giving Utah the lead for good in a matchup that featured 19 lead changes and remained undecided until the final possessions.
The Jazz entered the game having lost eight of their previous nine contests but produced balanced scoring and efficient free-throw shooting to end that stretch.
Brice Sensabaugh led Utah with 21 points on 7-for-13 shooting, while Kyle Filipowski delivered a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Filipowski also added five assists and helped control the glass as Utah finished with a 50-46 rebounding edge.
Utah relied heavily on contributions from two-way players in the closing minutes.
Hinson finished with 12 points and knocked down four three-pointers, while Elijah Harkless scored a career-high 16 points and sealed the win by making two free throws in the final seconds.
The Jazz were highly efficient at the line, converting 27 of 29 free-throw attempts compared with Golden State’s 14-for-21 performance.
Keyonte George added 15 points for Utah but did not play in the fourth quarter due to illness.
Golden State, playing without Stephen Curry and several rotation regulars, received strong scoring from De’Anthony Melton, who led the team with 22 points along with seven rebounds.
Gui Santos contributed 15 points and eight rebounds, while Brandin Podziemski scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Podziemski struggled at the foul line in the fourth quarter, missing four free throws that proved costly in a game decided by three points.
Seth Curry returned after missing 40 games with back issues and scored 13 points off the bench in his first appearance since the injury absence.
Golden State briefly regained momentum late in the game when Draymond Green made a free throw to tie the score at 113 with 1:26 remaining.
Utah had earlier created separation in the third quarter, using a 12-1 run to take an 89-78 lead with two minutes left in the period.
The Warriors were also short-handed, as Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford joined the team’s growing injury list after both played in Saturday’s game against Oklahoma City.
The loss dropped Golden State to 32-32, leaving the team ninth in the Western Conference standings and still fighting to remain in the Play-In Tournament race.
Utah improved to 20-45 and sits 14th in the conference despite the win.
Golden State returns home to face the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night, while the Jazz host the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
