Even though Los Angeles entered Friday’s matchup without its full roster, the absences proved irrelevant as Luka Doncic delivered a dominant offensive performance in a 128-117 victory over Indiana.

The Lakers guard erupted for 44 points through the first three quarters, setting the tone early and giving his team control of the game.

With the outburst, Doncic joined franchise icons Kobe Bryant, Elgin Baylor, and Jerry West as the only players in Lakers history to record at least ten 40-point performances in a single season, as noted by Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

“I felt great,” the player said. “I felt like I had my legs working. But definitely needed to win this game, so we came out aggressive.”

In addition to his scoring display, Doncic contributed five assists, helping the Lakers secure their fourth victory in five contests.

Head coach JJ Redick praised the guard’s wide-ranging offensive skill set and ability to score from virtually anywhere on the floor.

“He can make every shot,” Redick said.

“I mean, he can make a step-back, left-wing bank shot that line drives and barely goes above the rim. He can make floaters. He can make floaters going left, right. He’s a shot-maker, but he’s also a playmaker.”
