San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama described Friday’s 117-112 victory over the LA Clippers at Frost Bank Center as one of the most memorable of his career. “That was one of the best wins I’ve been part of…definitely the best 30 hours of basketball in my life, for sure,” Wembanyama said.

Wembanyama admitted the physical toll of the game was immense. “How fatigued am I? I got zero left right now, so I’m glad it didn’t go to overtime,” he explained, noting that his body signaled the challenge from warm-ups onward.

The Spurs erased a 25-point deficit with Wembanyama contributing 27 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks. He credited his teammates’ energy and effort in the comeback. “Everybody that set foot on the court helped in one way or another…nobody gives up on anything or anybody. Everybody gets everybody’s back,” he said.

Wembanyama highlighted individual contributions that fueled the rally. “Carter, 20 minutes. He had the loudest five points, three rebounds I’ve seen in my life. I’m super proud of him,” he said, referencing Carter Bryant’s alley-oop dunk that sparked momentum in the fourth quarter.

On the significance of the win in the context of the Spurs’ season, Wembanyama said, “To me it’s very meaningful. It’s not a game I see us win two years ago…even when the opponent is nasty, these guys find a way to still have fun and do the little things that are hard.”

He also praised the defensive effort in crunch time. “For me that’s an internal fight…my body sends me signals, but it’s personal. You have to never take a position off,” Wembanyama said, referencing his challenge guarding Kawhi Leonard in the final moments.

Wembanyama credited De’Aaron Fox’s pass on the game-winning dunk as perfectly timed. “That was perfect…I didn’t even ask for it because I didn’t have time. He was already throwing it,” he said.

Despite the exhaustion, Wembanyama said he can recover quickly and is focused on maintaining team standards. “I have no bad hits, nothing specific that needs to recover…two good nights’ sleep, some good recovery, massage, cold contrast, hot and cold. I recover really quickly, so I’m not worried,” he added.

The Spurs’ victory improved their record to 46-17, second in the Western Conference, with 14 wins in their last 15 games. San Antonio hosts the Houston Rockets on Sunday, while the Clippers travel to Memphis on Saturday.
