Cavaliers wing Max Strus has not yet made his season debut after undergoing foot surgery during the offseason, but the team shared a positive update on his recovery earlier this week.

In a Tuesday press release, Cleveland said recent imaging of Strus’ foot showed “progressive healing,” allowing him to move forward in the rehabilitation process.

As a result, Strus has advanced to individual on-court workouts as he continues building strength and conditioning in the injured foot. The next phase of his recovery will involve a gradual increase in activity.

The Cavaliers said Strus will begin a “structured ramp-up program,” which is expected to include controlled team activities as well as practice sessions involving both the NBA roster and the organization’s G League affiliate.

With only about five-and-a-half weeks remaining in the regular season, the window for Strus to return and contribute this year is narrowing.

Still, head coach Kenny Atkinson recently indicated he believes the veteran wing will be able to get back on the floor before the playoffs begin, though the timeline leaves limited opportunity for him to make a significant impact during the regular season.
