EuroLeague has approved new venues for Israeli and Dubai clubs for the remainder of the 2025-26 Regular Season, citing regional security concerns following the escalation of the U.S.-Israel war on Iran. Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv will host games at Belgrade’s Aleksandar Nikolic Hall, Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv at Sofia’s Arena 8888, and Dubai Basketball at Sarajevo’s Zetra Arena.
The governing body said it will continue monitoring the evolving situation and coordinate with all parties to announce any adjustments if conditions change. EuroLeague officials are also evaluating options to reschedule or relocate games affected by the suspended Round 21 and Round 30 matchups, with further updates expected in the coming days.
Maccabi Rapyd sits 13th in the EuroLeague standings with a 14-15 record, while Hapoel IBI is fifth at 17-11. Dubai Basketball holds 11th place at 15-14, reflecting tight competition in the middle tier of the league. Relocating home games may affect team performance due to travel and unfamiliar arenas.
The move comes as the war between Israel and Iran, backed by the United States, entered its fifth day. U.S.-Israeli strikes have targeted Iran’s military infrastructure, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and dozens of senior officials. In response, Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones across Israel, U.S. bases, and allied Gulf states.
Regional instability has disrupted civilian travel, prompted embassy closures, and triggered volatility in global markets. Euroleague’s decision ensures the safety of players, staff, and fans while allowing the season to continue without cancellation.
